Applicant Responsibilities
Following application approval, ASNT Certification Services LLC will issue the applicant a Letter of Approval to test (computer-based or practical exams). The Letter of Approval is valid for one (1) year from the date on the letter, and the examination must be taken within one (1) year. Failure to do so will require the applicant to submit a new application for approval and re-apply for the examination(s).
Upon receiving the Letter of Approval, applicants are strongly advised to schedule exams as soon as possible to ensure test center availability, to allow time for adjustments, and to complete the application process.
Applicants who are contacted for additional information regarding their application and fail to provide it within one (1) year from the submission date will forfeit all fees and must submit a new application.
Applicants renewing by exam must complete all required examinations prior to the certification expiration date
Refunds
Refunds will not be issued once the applicant has received the Letter of Approval to test.
Refunds will not be issued for any reason, including but not limited to:
if the applicant fails to provide requested additional information within one (1) year from the application submission date;
if the applicant fails to take the exam within one (1) year from the date on the Letter of Approval to test; if the applicant cancels an application;
if the applicant no longer wishes to take the exam; or
the applicant transfers between methods in the same certification program.
Failure to show (“No Show”) for any scheduled examination will result in forfeiture of all fees for the missed examination. Examination attendance will NOT be permitted unless all fees are paid.
ASNT membership is not required for certification. ASNT membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable and must be purchased prior to applying for certification
Exam Appointment
Computer-based testing: the applicant can modify an exam appointment date/time no less than 48 hours prior to the appointment without additional fees. To modify an exam appointment, log in to the MyCert portal or call Pearson VUE no less than 48 hours before the scheduled appointment date/time. Appointments cannot be modified less than 48 hours before a scheduled exam. Modifying an appointment less than 48 hours before a scheduled exam will result in a “No Show” status and forfeiture of all fees.
Practical exams: the applicant can modify an exam appointment up to two (2) calendar weeks prior to the scheduled appointment date/time. To modify an exam appointment, contact the AEC administering the practical exam. Modifying an appointment less than two (2) weeks before a scheduled exam appointment will result in forfeiture of all fees.
Test accommodations are considered on a case-by-case basis. Please refer to the Certification FAQs for additional information.
Online Application Payment Methods
Payment must be received in full before the application is reviewed and processed. The online registration will accept credit cards but will also allow the application to be submitted without payment if paying by wire transfer or check.
Reminder: The application review process will NOT begin until full payment has been received, including any outstanding balances or late fees.
If the option to pay later is selected, the application will be held for only 15 business days (3 calendar weeks). Missing the deadline will result in the application being discarded and requiring the application process to start again. The applicant will receive a proforma invoice number via email to reference when submitting payment. The proforma invoice and receipt of the payment can also be found in the MyCert portal. Below is the ASNT payment policy.
Applications will NOT be processed until full payment is received and applied. When paying by electronic/wire transfer:
Payment must be made in full in US dollars (USD).
The maker is responsible for all fees incurred in sending the wire transfer, including fees accessed by intermediary and/or correspondent banks.
Include a reference with the wire transfer. This will allow ASNT to identify the payment. The reference should include the customer’s name, the ASNT identification number (if available), and the product or service requested. (Example: John Smith #88852 Exam Fees)
Send via email the bank wire transfer confirmation along with the purpose of the remittance to FT@ASNT.org. (Example: Invoice Number, Application for Certification, Membership, Conference, Books, etc.)
All payments need to be made in United States currency and checks drawn from a US bank. Applicants are responsible for all taxes, banking, and other service fees, including all applicable withholding taxes.
