This program includes a general computer-based exam and specific exams for various methods, meeting Recommended Practice SNT-TC-1A. Applicants must also pass their employer's practical exam and possibly a specific exam.
As a Level II, you are qualified to work independently in the field as an NDT technician, performing inspections, documenting results, and ensuring accuracy. This role allows for a high degree of autonomy and higher hourly pay rates than NDT trainees and often includes paid travel expenses.

Understand and Plan for ASNT NDT Level II Certification Fees
To achieve NDT Level II certification, initial certification applicants must apply for and pass at least one General exam and one Specific industry exam. Those retaking a failed exam or adding an industry sector can take just that exam.
Employers are responsible for carrying out visual acuity, practical, and any job-specific exams as needed by their written practice to finish the certification process.

*All industry sector and retake exams are available for general industry or pressure equipment. Candidates can take one or both sector industry exams.

Verify Your Training and Experience for NDT Level II Certification
Determine the training and experience requirements that apply to you. You’ll enter this information in your online application in MyCert.
*As defined in the latest edition of ASNT’s Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A, work experience must be in:
nondestructive testing
experience must be gained while under the direction of qualified supervision
the test methods you are applying for

Gather Supporting Documentation
To support your work experience and training, gather the following documentation* to upload with your online application in MyCert.
Experience Documentation
Acceptable documentation, signed by the employer, may include:
inspection logbooks
inspection reports
employer or third-party certificates or certification records
human resources records
signed statement from your employer or responsible Level III
signed statement from an ASNT NDT, ACCP, or 9712 Level III professional
The documentation you provide must state:
level of qualification
OR Level II job duties
AND number of days working at Level II or comparable responsibilities
If you are self-employed:
Provide signed statements from at least two customers.
Documents that are NOT accepted:
certificates of training
non–employer-issued qualifications
Level I certificates
Training Documentation
Acceptable documentation may include:
copies of training certificates
letter of completion
employer or third-party certificates or certification records
signed statement of completion of training from the trainer or training company executive
signed statement of completed training hours from an ASNT NDT, ACCP, or 9712 Level III professional
