Designed for technicians with Level II certification, the ISQ program standardizes performance demonstration testing, alleviating the need for owner/operators to create their own NDT performance demonstration programs. It ensures global availability and industry recognition, providing a streamlined and cost-efficient solution for verifying the practical skills of NDT personnel in the oil and gas sector.

All applications are online

All applications are submitted, reviewed, and approved through MyCert, a secure online platform that’s integrated with your MyASNT account. You can access both portals with the same login information.

Gather documentation in advance

During the application process in MyCert, you’ll be asked to provide photo identification for the ISQ qualification.

Pay all fees at time of application

You can pay with a credit card, by check, or by wire transfer. Payment must be received in full before your application can be reviewed and processed.

Verify Your Preparation for ISQ

Determine the experience requirements that apply to you. Requirements and expectations differ for each exam type.

Ultrasonic Thickness (UTT)

  • at least a certification equal to Level II UT

Ultrasonic Shear Wave (UTSW)

  • at least a certification equal to Level II UT

  • passed the UTT ISQ exam

Ultrasonic Phased Array (UTPA)

  • at least a certification equal to Level II UT

  • passed the UTT and UTSW ISQ exams

To be sure your application for ISQ is considered—and that you get timely approval—be sure to:

  • Complete the online application.

  • Upload headshot.

  • Sign required agreements, including the ASNT Code of Ethics and Confirmation Statement.

  • Pay all applicable fees by credit card, wire transfer, or check.

  • Watch for a Letter of Approval of your application in your email inbox.
